SoFi Stadium
SoFi Stadium is the focal point of a dynamic live-work-play development in Inglewood, California. The stadium's architectural elegance pays tribute to the sweeping coastline and the captivating power of the Pacific Ocean, drawing inspiration from the region's cherished indoor-outdoor lifestyle.
Nestled on the former site of the Hollywood Park Racetrack, SoFi Stadium is a three-in-one sports, events, and recreation destination, all unified beneath a single monumental roof canopy structure. The roof canopy spans over an expandable stadium with seating for 70,000 to 100,000 spectators, a 6,000-seat performance venue, and a 2.5-acre (1-hectare) covered outdoor plaza.
Spanning an impressive 3.1 million square feet (288,500 square meters), the long-span roof canopy of this exceptional open-air facility represents a groundbreaking milestone. It is the first indoor-outdoor stadium of its kind and, at the same time, the most expansive stadium in the National Football League (NFL).

The project site and architectural vision posed unique challenges for the design team. SoFi Stadium is located along the flight path of nearby Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and just 550 yards (457 meters) from the active Newport-Inglewood fault line. The design solution included sinking the stadium seating bowl and curving the long-span canopy so that only three touchdown points were required.
CAST CONNEX designed and supplied a 30-ton (27-tonne) custom steel casting to provide an architecturally striking, high-performing, seismically isolated structural base connection for one of the three touchdown points supporting the dynamically curved roof shell. The custom-designed steel casting provides the strength, stiffness, and geometric precision required to support the stadium’s monumental roof canopy. The steel casting maximized material efficiency, a critical consideration for seismically loaded structures, simplified the fabrication and erection of the geometrically complex architecturally exposed structural steel (AESS) base connection, and contributed to the stadium's signature architectural expression.
As one of the largest steel castings in the CAST CONNEX portfolio, the SoFi Stadium steel casting provided architectural, structural, and construction solutions for this unparalleled sports and entertainment destination.
