Custom designed cast steel collars key to seismic retrofit

CAST CONNEX detailed and supplied custom designed cast steel collars which form an integral part of the seismic upgrade of Building M102 as part of the Terminal 1 Renovation Program at Oakland International Airport. The collars are the key linkage between the existing reinforced concrete structure and the new diaphragm and damper system. CAST CONNEX improved upon the original casting design through the addition of various design features and production processes that ultimately improved casting quality and tolerances, thereby resulting in simplification of Olson Steel’s subsequent fabrication and installation of the collars and associated structural steel framing.
