As part of the 4th Street renovation project, the OK 4th Street experience unfolds an engineering design marvel. A row of ten tree-like structures embellishing the pedestrian walkway between the MAPS 3 Oklahoma City Convention Center and the Omni Convention Hotel.

These captivating structures are crowned with canopies made of ETFE film, creating a mesmerizing visual along the path.

Each branch of every tree structure is fitted with CAST CONNEX® Architectural Tapers™ + CAST CONNEX® Universal Pin Connectors™ (ART+UPCs), combining art and engineering to achieve a sleek and graceful appearance for the branches. The OKC 4th Street experience is a testament to the seamless integration of architecture and structural finesse within a larger vision of urban transformation.

Oklahoma City 4th Street Experience

The $4 million project designed by Populous and GSB Inc. in collaboration with Magnusson Klemencic Associates, Inc. envisions a captivating pedestrian walkway that seamlessly connects the new Oklahoma City Convention Center, the Omni Convention Hotel, and a parking garage.

Utilizing a double-casting feature of CAST CONNEX’s UPC and ART products to achieve the required design elegance along with the require structural functionality, when combined, CAST CONNEX® Architectural Tapers™ and CAST CONNEX® Universal Pin Connectors™ create a refined, slender appearance for columns, braces, struts, and other structural elements. This design also allows for the use of a smaller Universal Pin Connector than would typically accommodate the structural member.
