TD Terrace (160 Front Street W)
TD Terrace at 160 Front Street West is a 47-story addition to the Toronto skyline. At its crown, a hospitality-inspired space with panoramic views flaunts a dramatic display of Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS), constructed using custom-designed CAST CONNEX Diablo Bolted Splices (DBS).
The tower crown, located at over 235 meters (780 feet), features CAST CONNEX customized Diablo Bolted Splices (DBS) for round HSS 406 and HSS 508 members (OD 16 in and 20in). These DBS fittings—based on the standard pre-engineered product line—were adapted to meet the unique structural demands, visual expression, and construction requirements of the crown feature. By eliminating the need for field welding and offering a sleek, technical appearance, the Diablo Bolted Splices significantly simplified fabrication and erection, while enabling a refined, unobstructive architectural expression.

An important design feature of the DBS is that the bolted connection sits inboard of the HSS outer diameter, allowing the splice to be either sheathed for concealment or left uncovered as an intentional design element. In this case, the bolted connections are prominently displayed, showcasing the art and science of the built form.
TD Terrace exemplifies how precision-engineered cast steel components can support and enhance both structural performance and architectural vision—delivering high-quality AESS connections that are elegant, repeatable, and reliable.
CAST CONNEX is proud to have contributed to this landmark project, reinforcing its mission to bring design clarity, efficiency, and innovation to the world’s most ambitious buildings.
