University of Connecticut Innovation Partnership Building
The University of Connecticut Innovation Partnership Building prominently features CAST CONNEX Universal Pin Connectors (UPC) and custom steel castings in the dramatic V-columns that suspend the portion of the building linking its two specialty wings.
The UPCs and custom castings, sized to fit24-inch outer diameter steel pipe sections, were used in the construction of the massive V-column structure that supports an elevated two-story link between the Advanced Characterization Lab (ACL) and the Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center (AMIC).

The University of Connecticut Technology Park was created to foster a foundation for an expansive network of resources, programs, and collaborations that extend throughout the State of Connecticut.
At 115,000 square feet, the Innovation Partnership Building is the Technology Park’s cornerstone building, featuring agile, flexible-use laboratories, tenant labs, and $40 million in specialized state-of-the-art equipment.
CAST CONNEX’s late-design stage input resulted in the elimination of concrete filling of the V-column struts, providing significant cost savings and construction simplification while assisting in the incorporation of cast steel connections, which both addressed the significant connection forces while delivering the desired aesthetic.
